Overview:

Ms. Nash-Hoff’s presentation will discuss where to source manufacturing of a product – offshore to China or other Asian countries, near sourcing to Canada or Mexico, or reshoring to the U.S.

She will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of sourcing offshore to China compared to near sourcing to Canada or Mexico.  She will also cover how to use a “Total Cost of Ownership” (TCO) analysis to determine whether the manufacturing of a part or product can be economically returned to the USA from Asia.

She will provide data on what industries and products are being near sources or reshored and present case studies of companies that have successfully returned manufacturing to the U.S. using a TCO analysis.

Why should you Attend:

American manufacturers need to understand the hidden costs of manufacturing overseas and the advantages of domestic manufacturing.

They need to learn how to use the Total Cost of Ownership estimator developed by Harry Moser of the Reshoring Initiative to enable them to do an accurate total cost of ownership analysis to determine if products could be returned to be manufactured in America instead of sourced overseas.

It’s time for all Americans to wake up America to the dangers of being dependent on other countries for manufactured goods, especially one that has become a threat to our country.

  • When is it advantageous to offshore a product to China?
  • What are the dangers of offshoring to China?

  • Why it is important to consider supplier geographical location?
