Overview:
Ms. Nash-Hoff’s presentation will discuss what caused the loss of so many manufacturing companies and the jobs they provided. She will discuss the ways we can rebuild manufacturing jobs and how to balance trade to create economic growth.
She will show how the global supply chain is broken and what can be done to fix it.
She will describe how the work of the Reshoring Initiative has helped return manufacturing to America and what are current trends that will increase reshoring.
Why should you Attend:
There are dangerous implications of the continued erosion of American industrial and manufacturing capabilities in sectors critical to national security, such as defense equipment, semiconductors, telecom supplies, and pharmaceuticals. The continued degradation of America’s industrial base is creating domestic vulnerabilities and weakening our ability to compete. The COVID pandemic proved that we cannot rely on imports of pharmaceuticals and PPE equipment and supplies to protect the health and welfare of Americans. We cannot defend our country if the products needed by the military and defense industry become unavailable.
We need to rebuild American manufacturing to rebuild our domestic industrial base. We need to do a careful examination of what are the critical factors to determine how to build a secure supply chain.
